A Commitment to Service: Keely Purscell Elected to the Winnebago Tribe of Nebraska Tribal Council

Leadership within Tribal Nations is more than a position. It is a responsibility to protect sovereignty, serve community members, and help create opportunities for future generations.

That responsibility recently took on new meaning for Tribal Ready, PBC Senior Tribal Liaison Keely Purscell, who was elected to serve on the Winnebago Tribe of Nebraska Tribal Council.

An enrolled member of the Winnebago Tribe of Nebraska, Purscell was sworn into office on June 12 following a special election held to fill vacant seats on the Tribal Council.

"I am deeply honored by the confidence the people have placed in me," Purscell said. "I look forward to serving with humility, listening closely to our people, and working alongside fellow council members to strengthen our sovereignty, advance opportunities for our Nation, and help build a strong future for generations to come."

For more than three decades, Purscell has dedicated her career to serving Tribal communities through advocacy, education, partnership development, health initiatives, and community engagement. Her work has consistently focused on helping Tribal Nations advance priorities that strengthen self-determination, create opportunity, and improve quality of life for Tribal citizens.

Today, as Senior Tribal Liaison at Tribal Ready, PBC, Purscell works directly with Tribal Nations to support initiatives related to broadband infrastructure, economic development, utility modernization, and Tribal Digital Sovereignty. Her role centers on listening to Tribal leaders, understanding community priorities, and helping align resources and partnerships that support long-term Tribal goals.

Her election reflects a continued commitment to service and leadership within her own Tribal Nation.

The Winnebago Tribe of Nebraska Tribal Council serves as the governing body of the Tribe and is responsible for advancing Tribal priorities, protecting sovereignty, and overseeing decisions that impact the Nation's future. Council members play an essential role in ensuring that Tribal resources, programs, and opportunities continue to benefit current and future generations.
